Convention Center Boulevard Opens

Hampton City Council members (from left to right) Rhet Tignor, Joe Spencer, Paige Washington, and Mayor Ross Kearney celebrate the opening of Convention Center Boulevard in Hampton. The new road offers a direct traffic thoroughfare from Armistead Avenue to the Hampton Roads Convention Center, providing even greater access for residents and visitors to this important part of the city. Billy Hobbs, President of the Coliseum Central Board of Directors, Mike Estes, Director of VDOT's Local Assistance Division and the Council members cut the ribbon. Mayor Kearney and Tim Buris of the Virginia Peninsula Car Club Council were the first to ride down the new street in Buris' 1931 Model A Tudor.
