Hampton Continues Bid for Google Fiber with New Video

Bring Google Fiber to HamptonA new YouTube video is the latest in a long list of ways Hampton is bringing attention to its bid to get Google fiber to the area.  The new video entitled, “The Best Minds Are on It” was created and contributed by Hampton production company Metro Productions.  The new video can be viewed by visiting Hampton’s bid for Google fiber website at www.First2Fast.com.

With close to 1,350 fans on the First to Fast Facebook page as of Tuesday morning, Hampton plans to have over 2,000 fans by the Google application due date this Friday, March 26.  Citizens are encouraged to show their support by visiting www.First2Fast.com to become a Facebook fan, view the new YouTube video, and answer the question, “What would you do with unlimited bandwith”?

“Hampton would be a perfect place for Google to test its experimental fiber-optic network, which is intended to be more than 100 times faster than normal Internet connections,” said Mayor Molly Ward.  “We’re a strong, mid-size city with lots of diversity and many tech-savvy people who are involved in a wide array of entrepreneurial endeavors — from academia to shipyards, from military and defense contractors to leading-edge health care, from the traditional maritime industry to new ventures into outer space, and from professional sports to regional excellence in the arts.”

Hampton will be submitting its application for Google Fiber this week.
