Fort Monroe Reuse Planning Process to Begin July 21

Friday, July 21 will mark the first day of the week-long public participation in the Fort Monroe Reuse Planning Process.

All citizens are encouraged to attend any or all of the meetings in order to share ideas for potential uses of Fort Monroe once it is vacated by the military. Details on feasibility and implementation of ideas gathered during the week's meetings will be studied after the meetings have concluded.

"The vision and suggestions from the public will be an important part of this process," said Mayor Ross A. Kearney, II.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

July 21 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Kick-off presentation with citizens
July 22 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Hands-on design session with citizens
July 23 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm Refine the plan with community input
July 24 9:00 am - 7:00 pm Refine the plan with community input
July 25 9:00 am - 7:00 pm Refine the plan with community input
July 25 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Informal open house: Citizens review work in progress
July 26 9:00 am - 7:00 pm Refine the plan with community input
July 27 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm "Work in Progress" Presentation

All meetings will take place at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, 1610 Coliseum Drive, in Hampton, Virginia.
