Hampton Minority Business Wins Three Contracts

Ram Services, L.L.C., a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) listed in the City of Hampton's Small Business Directory, has recently been awarded three contracts with the City.

Ram Services is certified as a SwaM (Small, Woman, and Minority) business with the State Department of Minority Business Enterprise (DMBE). By being certified as a SWaM business through the DMBE and registered as a vendor with the City's procurement department, a firm can be listed in the City's Small Business Directory. Bid notifications about contracting opportunities are sent out to minority and woman-owned businesses listed in the directory. The directory is one of many strategies implemented by the City's Minority Business Program to increase solicitation and utilization of minority and women-owned businesses.

Ram Services, L.L.C. was the apparent low bidder and awarded contracts for the installation/repair of HVAC equipment at Hampton General District Court (Bid award $75,200), Bethel High School cafeteria (Bid award $219,000) and Moton Early Childhood Center (Bid award $74,700).

As a minority, woman-owned business, it can be a challenge to keep up with potential bid opportunities with the City and Hampton City Schools. However, with electronic notifications, Ram Services, L.L.C has been exposed to more opportunities and has been able to bid on more, thus, increasing their probability of success.
