Public Input Sought on Hampton Trade School IdeaOctober 13, 2006Mayor Ross A. Kearney, II recently expressed his desire to explore the possibilities for a work force development high school in Hampton, formerly called a trade school, and he is seeking public input. The Mayor recognizes that it is the School Board's duty to establish educational policy and he has met with the Superintendents and Board Chairman on this issue. "Like so many parents, I have learned that not every child is going to college following graduation from public high schools," the Mayor said. His vision is that this school will meet the needs of those children as they are the backbone of today's middle class, tax-paying society. This school will be a highly technical institution working in conjunction with local industry and businesses in providing the highest training. Citizens are encouraged to come to a meeting to express their views on this idea on Wednesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 8th Floor of Hampton City Hall, 22 Lincoln Street.
