The Hunt for Hampton History Focuses on Education for 2009:
MAY 2, 2009

The City of Hampton and numerous community partners will host the 3rd annual Hunt for Hampton History: Education on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center from 9 am-3 pm. This event is being held in anticipation of Hampton's 400th anniversary celebration in 2010.

The event will showcase the history of Hampton's public, private, and university-level schools. Other exhibits will focus on Sports, Hampton's peaceful integration, and the connection between the schools and the neighborhoods.

Hampton is actively seeking vendors, sponsors, and contributors to the Hunt for Hampton History. If readers would like to share their Hampton school history, please contact 757-726-5437.

If past or present residents would like to share their stories of "how an educator shaped my life," please submit to emcmahon@hampton.gov or Hunt for Hampton History, c/o Erin McMahon, 22 Lincoln Street, 5th Floor, Hampton, VA 23669. Educators can include anyone who impacted the student's school experience.

Nearly 10,000 attended the 2008 Hunt event, and planners anticipate a greater turnout for this year's event, especially as it pays tribute to the teachers, principals, coaches, nurses, bus drivers, maintenance crews, etc, who have impacted education in public, private, and university level arenas.
