Hunt for Hampton History 2007
January 22, 2007
Join in the hunt for some Hampton history on Saturday, January 27 at the Hampton Roads Conntion Center from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
SHARE HISTORY
Your City is on a "Hunt for Hampton History" and we need your help! Help us capture the personal aspect of Hampton's history by sharing your photographs, artifacts, memoirs, documents, and family histories. We will record and return them to you onsite. The information you provide will help us link people and places across the city and across time.
The historical materials you share will help us build a directory to link researchers and historians to important historical resources in the City as we begin to prepare for Hampton's 400th anniversary in 2010.
COLLECT HISTORY
If you are interested in exploring, collecting or preserving your history, you won't want to miss these workshops scheduled throughout the day...

ENJOY HISTORY
Please join us for a celebration of Hampton as we explore our history with a day of reminiscing and sharing with historical exhibits, how to workshops, historic landmark models, storytelling, local restaurants, and Hampton book authors. Live entertainment will be provided by Sea Chanties, Ft. Monroe Brass Quintet, Special Blend Jazz Ensemble, The Crusaders, and the USAF Heritage Band Celtic Ensemble.
Bring pictures, manuscripts, and items from your attic relating to Hampton's History to help staff from the Hampton History Museum and Hampton Public Library compile a directory of historic materials. The directory will assist with the development of Hampton's Jamestown 2007 Legacy project and Hampton's 400th anniversary in 2010 such as:
- A new website featuring a virtual museum of Hampton History
- Exhibits showcasing Neighborhood History
- Revised printing of "From the Sea to the Stars"
- Historic Markers
Admission is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
