Hampton Presents Mark Malkoff a Key to City

Hampton Mayor Molly Joseph Ward presented comedian and filmmaker Mark Malkoff with a key to the city created by Hampton school children on Thursday, October 8 at Machen Elementary School. Malkoff is working on a video project entitled Keys to the City with mayors from across the nation.

Malkoff indicated Hampton's key was the largest he had received from any city, measuring 5 feet in length. The key was a combination of 400 smaller paper keys made by Hampton school children honoring Hampton's 400th anniversary in 2010.

Malkoff read a Mayor's Book Club selection to a group of children at the school as a community services project in exchange for the key. Videos and pictures of his tour across the nation can be seen on Facebook and Youtube.

Find out what Mark had to say about his visit to Hampton on his blog.
