Hampton Main Library Special Collections Department
to Close May 4 - May 31 for Renovations
April 30, 2009
The Hampton Main Library Special Collections Department is going to be closed due to renovations from Monday, May 4 through Sunday, May 31. The department will re-open for business on June 1. This department houses the local government collection, local history materials, genealogy materials, grant resources collection, and Daily Press microfilm. These resources will not be available during this timeframe.
The Hampton Main Library, located at 4207 Victoria Boulevard, is undergoing major renovations which began in March of this year. The 22 year-old building is receiving its first facelift since its initial construction in 1987.
Renovations will include new carpet, wall coverings, improved lighting, updated computer labs, improvements to the quiet study area and an overall more modern appearance. In addition, the Children’s Department will be going through a lot of exciting changes to enhance early childhood learning and family literacy activities. There will also be improved display shelving in the best sellers, DVD, and audio book areas which are the most popular among library patrons.
The renovation is expected to be completed over the next 6 to 8 months. For pictures, details, and updates of the renovation visit www.hamptonpubliclibrary.org
