Local Declaration of Emergency

The City of Hampton declared a local declaration of emergency at 11:00 a.m. The City's reverse 911 system has been activated and citizens will receive calls to encourage all residents to take this event seriously.

In light of power outages and continued tidal flooding, the City will open a shelter at Bethel High School, 1067 Big Bethel Road at 1:00 p.m. The City will evacuate and shelter residents and pets as needed at this location. Residents desiring to be sheltered are encouraged to bring personal and pet supplies with them.

Flooding occurred on many City streets this morning and we expect these streets to flood again when high tide occurs this afternoon at 5:27 p.m.

Those seeking additional information should call 311 (727-8311 from a cell phone or outside of Hampton).
