Hampton City Council is seeking two Hampton residents to serve on the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission is a seven member body, appointed by Hampton's City Council, and responsible for the review of long range plans, as well as land use and zoning matters for the City. Tasks and responsibilities of the Planning Commission are: preparation of the Comprehensive Plan, recommendation of ordinances and policies which assist in the implementation of the adopted Comprehensive Plan, review of applications submitted for changes to zoning districts, review of conditional use permits, review and recommendation of zoning ordinance, and plan amendments and other land use and zoning matters. Recommended qualifications and/or skill sets for commission members include: demonstrated involvement in the community, expertise/professional background in land use law, environmental sciences, transportation, engineering, real estate/development/housing, finance and banking, facilities planning/management, geography, forecasting, modeling and demographics, or social sciences such as youth and family development.
