Hampton Event Promotes National Cause
Championed by Oprah Winfrey

No Phone Zone

Hampton residents are invited to join the national "No Phone Zone" cause championed by Oprah Winfrey at Hampton's own "No Phone Zone" block party. On Friday, September 24 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the North Phoebus Community Center, Hampton residents will come together to sign pledges to help end distracted driving by making their vehicles no phone zones and driving as safely as possible. This free event will feature musical performances by local artists, free food, a DJ, and fun contests, such as a pizza eating competition, dance contest, and texting relay races, with great prizes including a $50.00 bond donated by Old Point National Bank.

Participants who sign pledges during the block party will be joining almost 400,000 people across the nation who have already submitted "No Phone Zone" pledges online at Oprah's website, www.oprah.com/packages/no-phone-zone.html.

Residents are encouraged to call 727-1160 for more details on this community event.
