North King Street Master Plan Begins

On February 14 and 15 design consultants, Urban Design Associates (UDA), began a master planning process for the North King Street Corridor extending from I-64 to Langley Air Force Base and including the adjacent neighborhoods.

On May 9 through May 11, UDA will be in Hampton to conduct an open house and public meetings for key stakeholders, residents, and City staff. These meetings mark Phase II - "Trying Ideas" of the planning process with numerous drawings and pictures. During this session, key initiatives will be identified to move the master plan forward.

City staff and UDA will set up shop at the Langley Baptist Church as a "working studio." The public is encouraged to stop by at any time and ask questions and offer input into the process. The City will also meet with specific groups and property owners by appointment during these days. The full schedule is as follows:

On the final day there will be a presentation of a draft plan at a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 11 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM The public meeting will be held at Barron Elementary School, located at 45 Fox Hill Road (at Old Fox Hill Road). The process will be a collective effort, including input from neighborhood groups, the steering committee, key property owners, city residents and staff.
