Peninsula Town Center is Coming to Life
February 10, 2009
With the opening of Barnes & Noble and The Chapman (apartment homes) just months away, significant progress continues at Peninsula Town Center (PTC). Even buildings that began construction in November (Buildings G, L & M) are nearing completion and will be ready for retailers and restaurants to move in prior to PTC’s late-summer opening.
The following are complete updates on each of the PTC buildings:
Buildings A1 and A2 - (Liner structures on the front of Macy’s that will feature a variety of retail stores) - Both of these structures almost complete.
Building B – (The project’s principal residential structure on second, third and fourth floors above retail to feature 158 luxury apartments) - As of the end of January, the window and drywall installations, along with the painting and brick masonry, were all nearly complete. Cabinetry and countertops are currently being installed on all floors, and the bridge connecting the building to the North Parking Garage is complete. Hard hat tours and pre-leasing options are available now; the units will open in May.
Buildings D & E – (Buildings located in the center of the property that will house retail and restaurants) - As of late January, Building D’s certificate of occupancy was pending, while Building E’s bathrooms and canopies were nearing completion.
Building F – (Will house the Barnes & Noble store on its bottom floor and offices above) - The interior build-out of this building is now complete, along with mechanical-electrical-plumbing installations; exterior signage has been installed and awnings are in fabrication. Barnes & Noble is expected to open by the end of March.
Building G – (A two-story, 130,000 square foot building that will house retail, restaurants, and entertainment venues) - As of late January, the steel erection had begun and the completion of the post-tension slab had reached 70 percent.
Building H – (A three-story building consisting of retail and office space) -Currently, the exterior brick detailing and painting, windows and mechanical-electrical-plumbing installations are near completion.
Building J – (Will be occupied by Lenscrafters and other small tenants) - Since late October, the building has been ready to receive its certificate of occupancy, which is currently pending.
Buildings L & M – (These two one-story buildings will be outfit for retail and restaurants) - As of late January, the roofing on both buildings was complete, and exterior masonry was making significant progress.
North Parking Garage – This structure, which can be seen from Cunningham Drive, is complete. Construction of the bridge that will connect the garage to the residential units (Building B) will begin in the coming months.
Target – (This building, which will be a new prototype design for the Target chain, is located at the South end of the property) - Significant construction progress can be seen from West Mercury Boulevard. The project remains on schedule for a summer opening.
