Richie McKeithen Selected as City Assessor

Richie McKeithen has been selected as the new City Assessor for the City of Hampton effective November 28, 2005.

Prior to accepting his position with the City, McKeithen served as City Assessor for the City of Richmond, Virginia. During his tenure as City Assessor for Richmond, he designed a strategic plan to process tax abatement applications more efficiently and researched, designed, and implemented a process to handle exemption via designation applications.

McKeithen began his career with the City of Richmond in September 2001 as the Deputy Assessor and was later promoted to Interim City Assessor and City Assessor. He also has served as Supervisory Assessor for the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue.

"I'm very excited about coming to the City of Hampton. It's a great opportunity to re-acquaint myself with a city that I have always been very fond of," McKeithen said. "I look forward to participating in the growth of Hampton and contributing to the credibility of its Assessment Office."

McKeithen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Hampton University in Hampton and a Master of Business Administration degree from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his Graduate Certificate in Real Estate and Urban Land Development from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. In addition, he is a Certified General Appraiser with the Commonwealth of Virginia and has met all course requirements for candidacy for a Certified Assessment Evaluator designation with the International Association of Assessing Officers.
