Robin Carpenter Promoted to
Director of Hampton Public Libraries

Robert (Robin) Carpenter has been promoted to the position of director of public libraries for the city of Hampton effective December 10, 2007.

In his new position, Carpenter will oversee all public library operations in the city to include the main library, all three branch libraries, and the mobile book service.

With 20 years experience with the city, Carpenter had been serving as acting director of public libraries and prior to that as manager of the city's main public library. He has also worked for the County Library System near Houston, Texas and also Newport News, Virginia. Carpenter holds a master's degree in library science from the University of North Carolina.
