Bruce R. Sturk Selected as
Director of Federal Facilities Support

Bruce R. Sturk has been selected as Hampton's new Director of Federal Facilities Support, effective February 19.

Sturk retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel on November 1, 2006. Sturk received his commission from Norwich University where he was a distinguished graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. He has commanded two Air Control Squadrons and served on various wing and Major Command staffs in jobs ranging from aide-de-camp, executive officer, chief weapons and tactics, chief operations training, chief standards/evaluation, and faculty instructor. He served as Vice Commander 16th Air Expeditionary Wing (AEW) Aviano Air Base, Italy in support of NATO Stabilization Forces (SFOR) Bosnia Herzegovina, and Kosovo Forces (KFOR). Prior to his retirement in 2006, he served as the Vice Commander of the Air Force Command and Control & Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Center at Langley Air Force Base.

Sturk holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and an Associate Degree in criminal justice from Norwich University. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in human resource management from Troy State University, as well as a Master of Arts degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.

As Director of Federal Facilities Support, Sturk is responsible for leading and directing Hampton's efforts to partner and build relationships with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Langley Air Force Base, and other federal organizations. Sturk's objective is to foster the continued operation, long-term prosperity, and growth of Hampton-based operations consistent with the City's vision and values. He functions as a member of the Executive Management Team for the City of Hampton and works closely with other senior staff, including Intergovernmental Affairs and the Economic Development Department.
