Upcoming Detour Around the Mercury Boulevard Flyover Demolition

Beginning Friday evening, July 6 at 8 p.m., and continuing through the weekend until Monday morning, July 9 at 5 a.m., the westbound lanes of Mercury Boulevard will be closed to through traffic between Cunningham Drive and the Interstate 64 interchange. This will allow the City of Hampton's contractor to remove the segment of the flyover spanning over the westbound lanes of Mercury Boulevard, in front of the Outback Steak House.

The southbound right turn lane from Coliseum Drive on to westbound Mercury Boulevard will also be closed to traffic during this period. So will the northbound left turn lanes from Coliseum Drive on to westbound Mercury Boulevard.

Westbound traffic on this segment of Mercury Boulevard, and northbound traffic on Coliseum Drive at Mercury Boulevard will be detoured to Cunningham Drive. From there, motorists going to the interstate will be redirected to Todds Lane. They will then gain access to the Interstate 64 interchange from the eastbound lanes of Mercury Boulevard. This detour will not affect eastbound traffic on Mercury Boulevard.
