Wanda Rogers Selected as Director of Human Services



Wanda Rogers has been selected as the new director of Human Services for the City of Hampton, effective September 1.

Rogers has over 26 years of experience working with children and families served by the foster care system. She began her career with the Hampton Department of Human Services in 1976 as a social worker, and later served as the Comprehensive Services Act representative, developing specialized foster care homes and in-home services. For the past several years, she has led multi-agency initiatives including Systems of Care, Family Conferencing, Healthy Families, and Court Improvement. She most recently served as the department's deputy director..

Rogers received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA.

As director of Human Services, Rogers will direct the city's implementation of federal, state, and city human services policies and provide leadership and administrative management of the Department of Human Services. She will advise and consult with elected and appointed officials, commissions, federal or state regulatory agencies, department heads, and others on problems, strategies, policies, and procedures related to human service programs.
