If the sidewalk is on grade (level) and does not present a tripping or safety hazard the City does not replace it.
If the sidewalk is raised between 1/2" to 1" the City will grind the raised portion down to eliminate the tripping hazard. Sidewalks that are raised 1 1/2 " to 2" will be removed and replaced by the concrete crew. The supervisor will also have a temporary asphalt patch put in place until the repair work can be scheduled to help minimize the safety hazard.
The City will only replace sections of sidewalk like that if they pose a safety risk to pedestrians and the scaling is 1 1/2 " or deeper. Lightly scaled sections of sidewalk need not be repaired or replaced.
If the sidewalk has dropped enough to be a safety hazard, or it is stopping the drainage flow, the City would replace it with the proper ties to the CDI or catch basin.
Residential walkways are the homeowners responsibility for repair or replacement. If the City has done work at your home and disturbed the walkway, we will repair or replace it as necessary.
The individual property management company or the owner of the property would be responsible for these repairs or replacement.
