Traffic Counts
Traffic Counts Hampton Traffic Counts Report (PDF)

The Traffic Engineering and Operations Division of the Department of Public Works regularly collects traffic volume data at over 175 locations on arterial and collector streets throughout the City. These figures are collected at a minimum of every two years at each listed location. Traffic counts are collected by automated collection systems.

The numbers listed are the average daily (24-hour) traffic volumes at selected points along the identified street section. These counts reflect the number of vehicles that pass a given point, in both directions, each day. This information is used for re-timing of traffic signals and identifying future transportation improvement needs.
