Volunteer Projects

Projects are specific short-term tasks that have a start date/time as well as a completion date. Our project list is updated frequently. Requirements for project volunteers are as follows: at least 16 years of age with parental supervision and a completed application. Interviews may be conducted as well as a background check - depending on the project. Projects can be completed by individuals, work groups, Boy Scout or Girl Scout troops, school groups - they are open to all! Additional information regarding project specifics and logistics will be be provided prior to project start dates.

Below is a list of our current projects and be aware projects may have been taken or completed as well as new projects available that are not listed below:

Bluebird Gap Farm

  • Azalea Trail - cut small trees, clear limbs, re-establish and re-line.
  • Disassemble old kiosk and replace with a new one. New one is located at Bluebird Gap Farm and requires assembly.
  • Build three to four foot gate in existing fence to adjoin two pastures.
  • Paint Antique Barn and Dove House.
  • Replace the cow side barn doors as well as the horse side barn doors.
  • Build a barrier around moat.
  • Water Wheel - current water wheel needs to be replaced with salt-treated wood and coated with marine-grade polyurethane.

Sandy Bottom Nature Park

  • Clean grills throughout the park - wire, clean and paint.
  • Adopt a Trail - you or your group to provide scheduled maintenance.
  • Adopt a flowerbed - regularly maintain any or part of the flowerbeds within the park.
