The realtor said "Let me show you around Hampton." He sent electronic
pictures to me and my husband who was stationed in Korea at the time. He told us about different things in Hampton that would be attractive to my children and also
putting the houses that were available in that context. We ended up buying a house right next to Gosnald Hope Park. There is a wonderful area of trees and my children
can walk to school. My youngest children walk to school and they don´t even have to cross the street. Hampton was not my first choice, it was my realtor who listened
to our families needs and recommended the best community based on that and he could not have been more correct. The two years we have been here have been extraordinarily
happy. As a matter of fact, we eventually relocated our business here too.

We love living in Hampton because of its family friendly appeal. Hampton
truly meets our needs. Our neighborhood is very diverse, and it helps us to teach our children to be comfortable with different cultures. Hampton meets our education needs.
Our kids are at great schools where they are thriving and succeeding. As a teacher, I know that the school system is trying very hard to get each child to be successful.
The school my children attend has an after school program that is great for young families and working parents because it provides a safe place for the children to be when
we are at work. Hampton meets our spiritual needs; there are many, many churches to choose from. We love the parks, the farms- Chuckie Cheeses is high on my kids list, bowling,
skating, and bike riding. Our community center offers a variety of classes for the young and old. From martial arts to dancing to crafts, pretty much anything you want to learn
how to do. Hampton has continued to grow and to change and it is a place where the young and the old, the parents and the grandparents, can kind of live together and just have
a great time being a family.

Hampton has such a small-town feel but is close to all the necessary conveniences.
The accessibility to the Chesapeake Bay for sailing is the main reason we built in Hampton. There are very few deep-access waterfront lots in the Hampton Roads area. The school
system is one of the best in Hampton Roads. The school staff works extremely hard to make Hampton City Schools the very best it can be for the children of Hampton. The system
is on the cutting edge as far as innovations and new teaching techniques go.

I was born in Isle of Wight Co. Va. My father went in the AF and I married an AF man. We moved here in 1975 and bought a
house in Foxhill. I have never been sorry. Hampton is big enough to find what you need but not so big it overwhelms! We have wonderful Parks which I volunteer with and you feel
you are part of the whole picture. I am near the Beach but in three hours I can be in the Mountains. We have moderate weather, this winter doesn't count. We have the best peanuts,
oysters, clams, good hunting and good fishing. This is where history has a Capital "C" . I can not imagine living anywhere else.
~~ Pat Parker – Fox Hill
When I think of Hampton, I think of all the waterfront properties,
restaurants, parks and recreation. With that comes nature. We have an abundance of nature outside our window everyday such as; river otters, pelicans, sea hawks,
blue herons, rabbits, ducks, geese, and I can go on and on. It´s a calm and relaxing feeling. We have the best neighbors and the most caring community volunteers I ever
witnessed. Hampton despite its size has a small town feel. Even its high ranking city officials are approachable. It´s like everyone has an open door policy. I love that
Hampton traffic is not congested like Virginia Beach or even our sister communities further north of us. Hampton has clean industry too. I think Hampton has been a well kept
secret. When friends or co-workers come to visit me for the first time, they always say they didn't´t know it was so nice in Hampton, or, I didn't´t know this neighborhood was here.
It´s just so nice to come home after a trying day at the office and be able to pull up a chair in my back yard and soak up all of the ambiance Hampton has to offer. Hampton is a
waterfront community for a lifetime where you can sun, sail, and have fun.

Going to stores, church, restaurants, medical services, City Hall, etc.,
in Hampton is very easy. Hampton is a clean city. City Council and Hampton City employees are willing to listen and go the extra mile to help Hampton citizens and visitors.
I find Hampton citizens are really interested in and dedicated to making Hampton a good place in which to live. The City of Hampton goes out of its way to include citizens in
decision making by involving them in numerous City commissions, committees, task forces, boards, etc.

I've lived in the Fox Hill neighborhood of Hampton for my entire life and I have
often wondered what it would be like to live somewhere else. When I really stop to analyze it, military families have the chance to live all over the world and many
choose to retire right here in Hampton. If they've seen so many places and think Hampton is so special, why should I leave? The world is too homogenous these days.
People tend to cluster with those who are like them. I live in a city where different races, cultures, income brackets, etc. all blend together to make a truly unique,
diverse environment. My daughter, while growing up in Hampton, learns every day that everyone doesn't look alike, make the same amount of money, drive the same car, live
in the same type of house, etc. but all are appreciated for what they contribute to our whole. What better lesson can a child learn early in life?

- 1- When You're in Hampton, You're Home.
- 2- Hampton to me is the thrill of traveling from the beauty of the Buckroe Shore on our colonial magic carpet, skirting the antique gem of Phoebus,
down the Hampton Creek, to the thrill of our Town Center, that never left the lasting embrace of the sea with all her bounty that made us what we enjoy today.
~~ Dixie Broughton - Pasture Point
It's simple... Hampton's best attribute is the water, all of that wonderful, so-accessible, water!!

The reason I am sold on Hampton is that everything you need is so close.
There are like 6 Malls within 30 min. driving time. Also, the Hampton coliseum, Norfolk Scope, Virginia beach Amphitheatre and the Norva for your concerts and events.
Plus, Virginia beach, Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion and the Marine and Science museum for the family outings. There are also various parks, golf courses, and movie
theatres around. Langley Speedway, for all the Nascar people, and dirt track racing for the others who like it dirty. All in all, a very exciting and well rounded
place to be living.

When I moved the Peninsula, I was looking for an outstanding educational program for my grandchildren and Hampton
schools have far surpassed my expectations. The teachers I have worked with are united in their focus on the educational success of every child and there has been an
overwhelming atmosphere of teamwork and enthusiasm. They have a caring and sharing attitude which enhances their relationship with parents. Learning is the #1priority
in the Hampton Public Schools but at my grandchildren´s school we say "whoever you are, you are a superstar."
~~ Annette Monroe (Grandparent of elementary students)
Of course... it HAS to be the history! The old and long history of this city.
And I can see all over the city´s areas where it is growing, cleaning up derelect buildings and modernizing. Where else can you dial 311 and answers to any questions?
Hampton. I´m a transplant from Rhode Island and have lived in Hampton since April 1994 and have lived here in Olde Wythe for over eight years. I love my neighborhood
and my "old house".
~~ Tim Posillo
I have always enjoyed all the water around Hampton and more recently in life have started running.
This works well since I can run a mile and be on the boardwalk at Buckroe Beach or head down Beach Road and look at the salt marsh wild life and appreciate
the Chesapeake Bay in the Grandview Preserve. Our family can also ride our bikes to the various Buckroe Beach functions like summer movies or bands.
Lastly, we just got a kayak and have had a great time trying out all the creeks in Hampton!
~~ Lewis Smith, Hampton, VA 23664
I'm "Sold" on Hampton because of the school system, the opportunities for gifted children especially. We are military and
have had 3 occasions to move, we researched other areas to live and their gifted programs and have asked to stayed here each time. We are now retiring and will stay
again for the gifted programs in Hampton. We are planning to move inside of Hampton now. I also like the location of Hampton, half hour to Williamsburg and less
than an hour to Virginia Beach.
~~ Gail Clinch
I grew up in sunny San Diego, California. My family
moved there when I was 8, and I stayed there until two years ago. At 34, married with three children ages 3 to 8, I hated it at first. Two years later, my husband turned
down a career option to move back to San Diego, and our reasons are as follows:
- The excellent quality of "regular" education in
- The excellent quality of "special" education,
- The excellent quality of children's sports programs,
- The moderate pace of life,
- The relatively low crime rate,
- And last, but certainly not least, the COST of living!
I now love where I live... Thank you Hamptonians!
~~ Treva Aldredge, HAMPTON
Hampton is a great place to live because it is more centrally located to anything
in tidewater and Richmond. Location Location Location....
Also, It does not have the new development syndrome of these new houses boxed up row after row.
