Trizsha Espina, a student at Thomas Nelson Community College, received the New Century Scholar award for receiving the highest All-USA Academic Team score in the state of Virginia and was awarded a $2,000 scholarship. The New Century Scholars program is sponsored annually by the American Association of Community Colleges, the Coca-Cola Foundation, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa.
